CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE

If you are experiencing communication issues in your family, ask yourself
"what is my attitude"?
Is it one that encourages or discourages communication?

The Bible has many examples of how we are to choose a positive attitude, regardless of what we are faced with. My favorite example comes from James 1:2-4 were we are told, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trails of many kinds. We can choose to have a good attitude even when we face trials. No mater what is happening to you, you can choose to be positive and pleasant or angry and disrespectful.

We live in a - victim mentality - society. Many people are buying into the lie that someone else can make them have a bad attitude. How many times do you hear, My spouse, child, boss, relative, mom, dad, guy driving on the road made me angry/sad/miserable. There is no question that other people can have an impact on us, but as Chuck Swindall tell us:

Our attitude is 10% of what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. In other words, our response is a choice. Each of us can choose to be upset by things that happen to us or we can choose to not be upset. We can choose to be happy or we can choose to be miserable.
