Communication - Emotions
How emotions impact communication
Often times chosen for communication are wrong. The stage needs to be set for healthy communication to happen. Set a time when there are not interruptions (children should be in bed) or phone calls (take the phone off of the hook) to disrupt your time together.
Since emotions are a big part of peoples make up, it is essential for the parties having a discussion to sit face to face and hold each other's hands. Holding of hands defuses the emotions allowing for communication to happen without anger rising as easily.
People are passionate about how they feel about certain situations. Always when having a discussion try to understand the other person's perspective. Each person may not see things the same so you need to be respectful of the other person's opinions. This also helps to keep emotions in check by trying to see the situation from the other person's eyes.
Always be respectful as the respect you show someone else will often be shown to you.
